TIME FOR LIVABLE COMMUNITIES
AND TIME FOR A COMMUNITY LIKE THIS

Matching the Vision of Prince George’s County
and the Washington, DC Region

The Livable Communities Initiative will create communities that promote and support sound principles for economic development, environmental improvement, educational growth, and safe and clean streets so that residents have an attractive place to live, work, play and have a sense of pride.

Brick Yard Station is the residential component of the overall Brick Yard development, adjacent to the Muirkirk MARC Rail Station at the border between Beltsville and Laurel, MD. In conjunction with its Business Park counterpart which entails approximately 700,000 square feet of commercial space, the Brick Yard Station residential component is a perfect illustration of a 21st century Livable Communities development.

Brick Yard Station is located on the southern end of a 125-acre master planned development and is accessed by vehicle via Muirkirk Road. The development is divided into distinct enclaves, with a diversity of housing types along with neighborhood retail, amenities and office space punctuated by a central park and sweeping, open “village green” spaces. Its walking distance proximity to MARC public transport (with connections to DC’s and Baltimore’s Metro systems, and Amtrak at Union Station) and associated bus service immediately qualify it as a transit-oriented community. Its location at a convergence of several highway routes also makes automobile travel quick and easy.

Brick Yard Station’s innovative re-use of an infill industrial site, its connection to public and private transit options, its proximity to area retail and entertainment, and its combination housing types, all epitomize the Livable Communities Initiative.
